Printing books

The Germans in Jerusalem bought in 1883 a simple printing press to be used at the Schneller Orphanage. The first publication they planned to print was Conrad Schick’s booklet about the Temple Mountain.
Schick wrote “Model of the ancient Jewish Temples and the Haram in Jerusalem” 1866. The book was first published in English in the UK.
It was then translated to German with the title “Beit el Makdas oder, Der alte Tempelplatz zu Jerusalem: wie er jetzt ist: mit einem Anhung und artischen Beilagen Nr.1 bis 6” and printed in 1887 at Schneller’s Syrian Orphanage in Jerusalem!
