The Sanatorium

The first building planned by Schick was probably the Sanatorium built soon after 1863.

Later the area was purchased by the Anglican Church that during the end of the 1900th century erected a number of buildings on the spot. Once again Conrad Schick was the architect to these new buildings known as Bet HaDegel – the House of Flag.

The complex is situated at Haneviim 82, not far from Conrad Schick’s private mansion Beit Tavor and houses today the Anglican International School.

The Anglican International School

During the first waves of Jewish immigration from Russia at the end of the 1900th century, many immigrants ended up living as guests at this place. Later it became a head quarter for the Turkish authority and was 1917 turned over to Allenby and the British 60th Division. It is said that Allenby once met with Lawrence of Arabia here!
